Mo'jive has dedicated itself to providing a teaching format that enables people from all walks of life to access the modern jive dance.
The modern jive dance has evolved from different dances dating back to the beginning of the jazz era in the 1920s.
The 21st Century form of ‘jive' is a combination of swing, lindy hop, salsa, jive, rock ‘n' roll, blues and latin. The dance is still continuing to evolve as it refleects current dance and music trends.
The modern jive is a partner dance and is a sequence of stylish and easy moves. The aim of the moves is to create a seamless, continuous and flowing dance that interprets a variety of music. The style in which moves are danced, communicate a range of feelings and emotions and are interesting and fun to dance and watch.
The man always leads the lady into each move. The man gives a clear lead by using the hands, arms and body movement - there is very little specific footwork. It is danced to a prominent beat with each part of the move danced on every other beat in a music bar of 8.
